Grow With The Flow: Spring Member Swim Challenge
As Mother Nature works her magic, we are starting to see the beautiful signs of spring in the area with the tulips blooming, the grass growing, and the trees filling out. April showers are definitely bringing May flowers! This spring, the Aquatics Team challenges you to grow too with the Spring Member Grow With the Flow Swim Challenge.
Over the course of 8 weeks, from April 29th – June 21st, track your yardage and strive to move from Tier 1 to Tier 2 or 3:
Tier 1 – Swim up to 15,000 yards
Tier 2 – Swim between 15,025 and 39,975 yards
Tier 3 – Swim 40,000 yards or more
The JRSSC goal is for the group to collectively swim at least 500 miles. Why 500 miles? Because in just 5 days, 500 square miles of rainforest can be destroyed. Thus, the challenge also includes raising funds for Friends of the Rappahannock, a local non-profit, grassroots conservation organization that works at the local, state, and federal level to ensure the maximum protections for the Rappahannock River.
While you grow stronger, you will also be eligible to win some great prizes! Prizes will be awarded randomly in each tier, with all participants entered to win the overall grand prize of a free one-month individual membership! All participants will also receive a Grow With the Flow T-shirt.
To join the challenge, please sign up online or at the Front Desk. The cost is $15, but we will donate $5 of each entry to Friends of the Rappahannock (visit www.riverfriends.org to learn more about this group and their work). You can sign up anytime the challenge is open, but you must sign up by June 7th to receive a t-shirt.

After you have signed up, a member of the Aquatics Team will set up a Log Sheet for you so you can track your yardage. Questions? Please reach out to Eva Schellenbach, Aquatics Director (firstname.lastname@example.org), or any member of the Aquatics Team.
See you at the pool!
