POOL RULES

Wellness Pool Rules

  1. Anyone under the age of 18 shall not be allowed to use the pool.

  2. Please shower before entering the pool.

  3. No food or drink allowed on the pool deck. Glass is not permitted.

  4. Proper swim attire is required.

  5. No running or horseplay is permitted.

  6. No diving is permitted.

Competition/ Recreation Pool Rules

  5. Children between the ages of 11-13 must pass a swim test in order to be in the pool area without an adult present during the test.

  6. Children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times (18+).

  7. Any child in a lifejacket or poor swimmer must have a parent/guardian in the water within arm’s reach.

  8. All toddlers must wear a swim diaper or “swim pants”.

  9. Diving only allowed in designated areas.

  10. Do not hang on lanes lines.

  11. The Competition Pool is for lap swimming only.

  12. Swim test may be administered to anyone 13 and under for use of Competition Pool; NO lifejackets allowed in Competition Pool.

  13. Persons having infectious or communicable diseases, which can be transmitted by water are excluded from the use of the pool.

  14. Diving blocks may be used only by swim team members in scheduled practices, competitions, and instruction when supervised by a certified coach.

Diving Board Rules

  1. No backflips on the diving boards.

  2. One person allowed on the diving board at a time.

  3. Swim tests may be administered to ensure the safety of patrons; NO lifejackets allowed on the diving board.

  4. Parents cannot wait in the water while a child dives.

  5. Bounce only once and no running dives.

  6. Dive off of the end of the diving board, not the side.

  7. Do not hang on board.

  8. Swimmer must exit pool before next diver can use the board.

Swim Test Policy

There are two swim tests available to kids; a shallow water swim test for the Recreation Pool (for use without an adult) and deep water swim test for the Competition Pool (for use with or without an adult).

Children between the ages of 11-13 MUST take and pass a swim test in order to be in the pool area without an adult.

Children 13 and under MUST take a swim test to use the Competition pool, even with adult supervision. The Competition Pool is for lap swimming only.

An adult (18+) must be in the pool area during the swim test.

If the child fails the swim test, an adult (18+) must be in the pool area for the child to use the pool.

They may retake the test ONCE every week if they do not pass.

Upon passing the swim test, the child will be given a band to be worn at all times (Green = Competition Pool and Recreation Pool, Yellow = Recreation Pool) when in the pool area.

Swimmers are responsible for bringing the band to the pool when swimming. If the band is lost, a swim test may be administered again or one will be provided for day use.

Weak or poor swimmers and children in life jackets must have an adult (18+) in the water within arm’s reach.

Shallow Water Swim Test: Tested in Recreation Pool

  1. Swim 25 yards continuous freestyle or breaststroke with rhythmic breathing

  2. Tread water for 1 minute

  3. Float on front and back

Deep Water Swim Test: Tested in Competition Pool

  1. Swim 50 yards continuous freestyle or breaststroke with rhythmic breathing

  2. Tread water for 1 minute

  3. Float on front and back

***If the band is given to another child, who has not taken the test, the child who passed the test will lose the ability to use the pool without an adult until 13.***
